A Step Back
Published by eJone 2 years, 8 months ago in Click Me Tags: blog, content, internet, wordpress.Well that didn’t last very long at all haha! The problem with the K2 theme was that it looks too much like a blog and I’m trying to move away from that. The K2 theme (which is still in beta) is feature-rich since it was developed specially for Wordpress 2.0. However, I have gone back to a pre-2.0 theme for now as I think it suits my purpose better.
I also appear to be struggling with content at the moment. You may notice that my first few entries on eJoneclicks.com was very mundane and trivial. I wasn’t sure what I wanted to share and posted some entries on latest happenings in the world of technology and Internet.
It then occured to me that there are already hundreds or maybe even thousands of websites already doing this; engadget.com and techdigest.tv are the two popular sites that updates a few times per day and discuss hundreds of latest gadgets and techie news, getting thousands of visitors per week. They also have several contributors/authors who provide the artciles. Surely a single entity like myself won’t be able to compete with that. I mean, my single entry on the new look of Outlook some weeks back seems pretty lame compared to their daily postings.
I think the main problem with starting a techie/gadget blog is that the topic is far too vast to cover for a single person. I can’t be discussing the details and intricacies of every single gadget released in the last three months. To be honest, I’m still not sure what I want contribute here. I would like the topic to be one where I can still talk about in detail in say, 10 years time. Now how is that possible for a techie/gadget blog when things get absolute in three months?

haiya. KISS, my friend. keep it sweet and simple.
you can still do your own gadget / tech / whatever reviews, whenever you like. your audience would appreciate it. maybe just stick to what’s hot in London, since that’s where you are now and you get (almost) first hand news.
